Empowerment Through Our Ability Centers
Not Abandoned empowers freedom for vulnerable children in some of the most challenging places in the world including Morocco – where cultural and financial barriers prevent children with disabilities from receiving the care and dignity they deserve. Every child with a disability deserves freedom. Through the hope created at these centers, your generosity will change the destiny of a child’s life, empower their family, and strengthen their entire community.
Many Challenges, Few Resources
A 2011 report by the World Health Organization estimates that 32% of the total Moroccan population is living with a disability and unfortunately cultural and financial barriers prevent a vast number of these children from receiving the care and dignity they deserve.
Without regular access to essential therapies and medical care, vulnerable children experience:
- Continued impairment from treatable conditions
- Cultural shame and lack of dignity for both the child and their family
- An increased risk of mental, physical, and sexual abuse
- Little chance of living a free and empowered life.

Empowered Ability
Every child with a disability deserves freedom. Through the hope created at these centers, your generosity will change the destiny of a child’s life, empower their family, and strengthen their entire community.
Through a proven care strategy and direct skills training, local staff in disability centers care for children by providing:
- Essential medical and rehabilitative care
- Physical and occupational therapy
- Education on how to improve at-home wellness
- A sense of belonging because the centers are the heartbeat of an accessible community
Guelmim Region Ability Centers
We recognize the hopelessness and desperation experienced by vulnerable children and their families.
The Moroccan government also acknowledges a gap in care for children with disabilities. They have witnessed the success of Not Abandoned’s programs and have invited us into a partnership to train Moroccan therapists and oversee care centers so that we can reproduce and amplify the care already provided.
To date, we have been able to help start over 10 new ability centers in the Guelmim Region of southern Morocco.
